Permission Levels

LogScale enables you to choose between different permission levels, or types, each collecting a set of permissions that are valid for a given role. These levels are used to grant a set of permissions to roles and then assign these roles to groups.

While creating a new role, you are prompted to choose such level of permission, thus defining that role as belonging to a given role type.

When creating a new group, you are equally asked to choose a permission level: this way, the group is associated with a specific permission type, which comes with a given set of permissions.

  • Repository and view permissions — grants repository level permissions for accessing a selection of repositories and views, or assets that are included in a view.

  • Organization administration permissions — grants organization level permissions for managing your organization.

  • Cluster management permissions — grants system level permissions for monitoring and managing clusters.

Note

You need to be the nominated Organization Owner for your organization to access and create repository and organization role types.

Note

You need to be the root user for your organization on on-prem installations to access and create system permissions. Alternatively, you need to have the Change System Permissions permission.
