Larger operations often times have so many actions (e.g., webhook, PagerDuty) saved in their LogScale system that it becomes difficult to manage them. By adding labels to actions related to their purpose or areas of responsibility, an administrator can more easily review actions for proper coverage and other factors.

The addActionLabels() mutation is used to add labels to an action. There can be at most ten labels, with a maximum length of sixty characters per label. This mutation returns the updated action if successful — or null with errors, if not.

Adding labels doesn't replace or eliminate ones that are already saved. To remove labels from an action, use the removeActionLabels() mutation.

To manage action labels through the UI, see the Manage Actions section of the main documentation.

Stability Level Long-Term

Syntax

graphql
addActionLabels(
      input: AddActionLabels!
   ): Action

For the input, you have to give the name of the view or repository, and the unique identifier of the action to which you want to add labels (click on Show Query below). Last, you'll provide within brackets, a comma-separated list of labels.

For the return datatype for this mutation, you can get details on the action, including a list of labels for it. See the Returned Datatype section farther down this page.

Given Datatype

You'll have to give the view or repository name, and the unique identifier of the action to which you want to add labels — and a comma-separated list of labels to add, within brackets. Click on the Show Query link under the Syntax section above for an example of how to get the action identifiers.

Table: AddActionLabels

ParameterTypeRequiredDefaultStabilityDescription
Some arguments may be required, as indicated in the Required column. For return datatypes, this indicates that you must specify which fields you want returned in the results.
Table last updated: Nov 17, 2025
idstringyes Long-TermThe unique identifier of the action.
labels[string]yes Long-TermThe labels for the action. There can be at most ten labels, each with a maximum length of sixty characters.
viewNameRepoOrViewNameyes Long-TermThe name of the view or repository of the action. RepoOrViewName is a scalar.

Returned Datatype

With the returned datatype, you can get a list of allowed actions, when the action was created and modified last and by whom, and other items. Below is a list of the return parameters from which you can choose. Include the labels parameter so you can see the results of your addition, in case there's one you want to eliminate any or you forgot to add.
