Bookmark Groups

Bookmark groups extend the existing bookmarking system to allow you to organize your bookmarked pages into custom groups. This provides a more flexible way to manage and access bookmarked documentation.

Accessing Bookmark Groups

Access the grouped bookmarks view from the bookmarks system:

  1. Click the menu in the header

  2. Select View all Bookmarks

  3. On the bookmarks page, click Switch to Grouped View

Or navigate directly to bookmarks-grouped.html.

Creating and Managing Groups

Organize your bookmarks into custom groups:

  • Create a group: Click + Create New Group, enter a name, and the group appears immediately

  • Rename a group: Click Rename next to the group name, enter the new name, and confirm

  • Delete a group: Click Delete next to the group name and confirm. Bookmarks in the deleted group are moved to the Ungrouped section

Groups are sorted by creation order and are stored in your browser's local storage.

Organizing Bookmarks with Drag and Drop

Move bookmarks between groups using drag and drop:

  1. Click and hold on the bookmark's drag handle (โ‹ฎโ‹ฎ)

  2. Drag the bookmark to the desired group

  3. Drop it in the group's content area

  4. The bookmark is automatically assigned to that group

Bookmarks can be moved:

  • From the Ungrouped section to any group

  • From any group to the Ungrouped section

  • Between different groups

Visual feedback shows when you're dragging and highlights valid drop zones as you hover over them.

Favorites and Groups

The existing favorite bookmarks feature works alongside bookmark groups:

  • Click the star icon (โญ/โ˜†) next to any bookmark to toggle its favorite status

  • Favorite bookmarks appear in the menu regardless of which group they belong to

  • A bookmark can be both in a group and marked as a favorite

  • Favorites also appear on the documentation homepage for quick access

Organization Strategies

Consider organizing your bookmarks by:

  • Learning path โ€” Create groups like "Getting Started," "Intermediate Topics," "Advanced Features"

  • Project or task โ€” Group pages related to specific projects like "Migration Project," "Security Audit," "Performance Tuning"

  • Documentation topic โ€” Organize by areas like "Query Language," "API Documentation," "Configuration," "Integrations"

  • Role or responsibility โ€” Create groups for different roles like "System Administration," "Development," "Security Operations," "Data Analysis"

Use descriptive group names and leverage favorites for your most-accessed pages regardless of which group they're in.

Switching Between Views

Switch between the grouped view and the simple bookmark list:

  • From the grouped view, click Switch to Simple View to return to the traditional bookmark list

  • From the simple view, click Switch to Grouped View to access your bookmark groups

  • All bookmarks and groups are preserved regardless of which view you use

  • Bookmarks added in the simple view appear in the Ungrouped section in the grouped view
