Install Falcon Log Collector

Available: Full and Custom Installation changes v1.136

The Full install method is available as of LogScale version v1.136 and the previous installers method is now called Custom Install.

We offer several methods for downloading and installing the LogScale Collector depending on your needs:

  • Full Installation this method provides you with a curl command based on the operating system you have selected, which install the Falcon Log Collector and performs some additional setup steps on the machine, additionally this method supports remote version management, see Manage Versions - Groups.

  • Custom Installation which allows you to download the Falcon Log Collector following using the UI and install the packages manually as required.

    Note

    This procedure does not support the remote management of LogScale Collector versions, see Manage Versions - Groups for more information.

    Additionally you can obtain a list of installers and download them from the command line, see Download Installers from the Command-line.

Supported Operating Systems

The Falcon Log Collector is compatible with the following:

Important

If you are running the FIPS compliant you must also run the OS in FIPS compliant mode, for example, Windows in FIPS environment the registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\FIPSAlgorithmPolicy\Enabled must be set to 1.

  • Linux: The OS versions which are officially supported are listed below, but the Falcon Log Collector should be compatible with most modern x86-64 systemd based Debian and RHEL type systems and ARM 64 systems.

    • Ubuntu 20.04 LTS & 22.04 LTS

    • Debian 11.

    • RedHat Enterprise Linux 7, 8 & 9

  • The Windows versions which are officially supported are listed below, but the Falcon Log Collector should be compatible with most modern supported Windows distributions.

    Important

    • TLS 1.2 or higher must be enabled in the PowerShell session used to run the Falcon Log Collector Full Install.

    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016

    • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Standard

    • Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Standard

    • Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise

    • Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise
