Managing Dashboards
There are different ways to create a new dashboard in a given repository, and previously created dashboards can be accessed from any repository within your LogScale instance.
Note
You must have the Administer Dashboards permissions for the repository you want to create a dashboard for. For information on how to set permissions in LogScale's repositories, see Role Based Access Control (RBAC).
Creating a New Dashboard
To create a new dashboard inside a specific repository:
Login to enter the main LogScale User Interface opening screen and pick a repository from the Repository and Views tab.
Select Dashboards tab from the top menu bar: you will see the list of existing dashboards, if any.

Click the
button. In the New Dashboard dialog, choose how to create the dashboard among the following options.
Empty Dashboard — creates from scratch an empty blank dashboard, one that will serve as a container for your Widgets. This is the default option, where you are prompted to provide only the Name for the dashboard.
Duplicate Existing — creates a copy of an existing dashboard, whether it is in the current or another repository. You will be prompted to provide:
Name — the name you assign to the dashboard.
Source repository or view — from the dropdown, select the repository or view you want to duplicate the dashboard from.
Dashboard to duplicate — from the dropdown, pick the dashboard you want to copy.

Template File — allows you to create a dashboard based on a template generated from another dashboard (this is explained at Using Dashboards). Drag&drop a file or browse your computer to use such template.
From Package — allows you to invoke dashboard templates that are part of LogScale packages, provided that such packages are installed in the repository where you want to create the dashboard. For more information on how to install a package and access a package template, see Packages.

Accessing Existing Dashboards
You can always access previously created dashboards in any repository of your LogScale instance, to consult them or perform a series of actions with them.
To access existing dashboards:
Login to enter the main LogScale User Interface opening screen.
Click the All Dashboards tab from the top menu bar to get the full list of existing dashboards (see Figure 115, “Access Existing Dashboards”): for example, one entry in the list could be
humio-metrics / Errors
wherehumio-metrics
is the name of the repository andErrors
is the dashboard name within that repository.Figure 115. Access Existing Dashboards
Select the desired dashboard by clicking the second item, the one after the slash: the dashboard and all its widgets will appear in the main dashboard pane, whereas clicking the first item instead redirects you to the Search tab in that repository.
Tip
Click the star icon next to a dashboard to save it as favourite: it will go on top of the list for quicker access and will appear under Starred Dashboards in the main User Interface.
