Humio is an excellent system and service for system administrators, as you’ll soon see. This guide will take you through the steps of trying Humio software. In the process, you’ll learn how to configure and use Humio. While going through the guide — and preferably performing all of steps recommended to get the full experience — if you like what you’re seeing, keep going to the end. It will prepare you for adapting Humio for production. Plus, you’ll be better prepared to explain it to others in your organization.
- Humio Made Simple
- Humio with Your Data
You may either use Humio by way of the Humio Cloud, or you can install Humio on your server. The Humio Cloud, requires no installation. You need only configure a private, secure repository to take in data from your servers. It’s the easier and better solution.
Wherever you choose to deploy Humio, you’ll still be able to use the same Humio web-browser interface to monitor all of your servers and clusters, to analyze your data and to create alerts to let you know when events occur and when parameters you set are exceeded.
Before committing to Humio, you may want to try it first. We’ve set up a two-part process in which you can try Humio for free. Both parts are listed below, with links to a tutorial for each:
We’ve made it very easy for you to try Humio. It takes only a couple of minutes to get started using our Sandbox repository on Humio Cloud. This first part includes an interactive tutorial that demonstrates how to use Humio. The Sandbox repository comes with data so that you can see what Humio has to offer. There’s nothing for you to download or install. It’s simple.
Just go to the Humio Made Simple tutorial, There you’ll find a link to Humio’s Sandbox repository, and a description of what you can expect.
After you’ve tried the Sandbox repository, we think you’ll be excited about the possibilities with Humio and will be eager to see how Humio does with your data. All you have to do is create your own trial repository on Humio Cloud — still without having to commit.
The second part of this guide, called Humio with Your Data, is a more extensive tutorial, but still easy.
When you’ve completed the Getting Started guide, if you’re convinced that Humio is for you, you can contact us to help you to integrate it into your production system.
