Ingestion Capacity
When planning for the ingestion capacity, there are some basic metrics and measurements that are usually being optimised for to achieve the desired result:
Ingest rate (typically looking for higher rates, or to keep up with the volume of incoming data)
Ingest latency (lower latency to ensure that data gets into LogScale as quickly as possible)
Balance and performance of the ingest rates across repositories
Live query (dashboards and alerts) will be impacted by the ingestion (the rate it arrives into the queue) and digest (when the queries are executed against the incoming data)
Factors affecting ingestion capacity:
Number of ingest nodes and the number of digest nodes processing that information down to storage
Number of digest nodes storing the information after ingest
Number of clients sending data
To monitor the ingest performance, keep an eye on the typical system metrics, such as CPU and RAM usage.
