Creating Actions
Actions can be created from the Alerts
page. When creating an action you can choose whether to create:
Empty action
A blank action; you will be need to select the action type and configure or set the all the parameters for the actions.
From a template
An action based on an existing action template. You can use an existing template or upload a template that you have previously exported.
From package
An action based on an existing action defined within an installed package.
To create a new action:
Go to the Repository and Views page.
Select a Repository or View.
Click the Alerts tab on the top bar of the User Interface
Select
from the menu on the leftClick
In the New actiondialog, enter a name for the action and choose how to create it:
Empty action to create a new empty action from scratch, then click

When creating an empty action, the
New action
page will be displayed. From here, you can change the type of action that you want to create using the popup box at the top of the page. Until the action has been saved, the type of action has not been set and you can edit and update the action across the different types.Figure 184. Creating an Empty Action Type
From template to browse for or drag and drop a template based on an existing action, then click

When creating an action from an existing template, the dialog for the corresponding action type will be shown and cannot changed. See the corresponding action types for information on the supported configuration parameters.
From package to invoke action templates that are part of a LogScale package, then click

When creating from an existing package, the package and action name must be selected, and the package must have previously been installed into repository. See Packages for more information on packages and installation.
Select the desired Action Type from the drop-down list and fill in the required fields, which vary according to the different action types that are supported.

LogScale uses message templates and variables to create the messages sent by actions. They currently apply to some of the available action types — see Message Templates and Variables for more information.
