The documentation provides the main installation, user and administration manual for Humio. The information provided in this part of the library provides guides, walkthroughs, and background information on how to use Humio. Detailed Reference is available, or if you are new to Humio, use the Training section.

The documentation is split up into major sections; the full table of contents is available on left-hand side of this screen. If you have a particular item you are looking for, you can can use the Search system, top-right.

The main sections of the documentation:

  • Installation—Installing Humio, including preparation, single-node, container, and cluster based deployments.

  • User Interface—Understanding the user interface, primary components and elements of the Humio system, and how to use the interface to ingest, query and display the data within dashboards.

  • Repositories—The primary storage mechanism within Humio is the repository. Information on creating, configuring and viewing repositories.

  • Ingest Data—Configure Humio to Receive Your Data, and the tools available for sending data to Humio for ingestion.

  • Parsing Data—Parsers translate the information taken in during ingestion into fields and structures that can be more efficiently queried. This sections covers the parser mechanism and how to write parsers for extracting data.

  • Security & Authentication—Methods for enhancing the security of your Humio installation, including configuring third-party and SSO authentication, access control, and logging

  • Query Functions—Query functions for Humio to filter and aggregate Data

  • Integrations—Tools and Platforms to Integrate Humio with other tools and services

  • Widgets—How to build dashboards to monitor server data with charts & tables

  • Alerts—Humio supports automation to provide notifications of real-time changes through alerts and actions.

  • Administration—How to configure, backup, and manage your Humio installation.

  • Cluster Administration—Clustered Humio installations require additional management, including adding and removing nodes, and configuring the storage and monitoring of your installation.
